Panaji, Oct 28: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) national president Nitin Nabin has urged party workers in Goa to intensify preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, expressing confidence that the party would return to power with a decisive victory.
Addressing the party’s state executive committee meeting at the BJP headquarters, Atal Bhavan, at Kadamba Plateau in Chimbel, Nabin said the party had set an ambitious target of securing more than 50 per cent of the votes. He called on workers to strengthen booth-level mobilisation and take the government’s development initiatives directly to the people.

Highlighting the BJP’s organisational structure, Nabin said the party provided opportunities for workers to rise from the grassroots to senior leadership positions. He described this as one of the organisation’s key strengths.
Nabin also recalled former Goa chief minister Manohar Parrikar, describing him as a leader whose simplicity, discipline and approach to politics had given Goa a distinct identity in the country. However, he alleged that some political leaders were willing to turn politics into anarchy.
Referring to his interaction with Goa BJP president Damodar Naik, Nabin said the party had secured more than 50 per cent of the vote share in the state during the Lok Sabha elections.
“We will win the elections with a big margin. I hope that you will break all the previous records. It will send a clear message to all,” he said.
The BJP national president credited Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and his team with advancing Goa’s development agenda, particularly in infrastructure, connectivity and public facilities. He said infrastructure development had helped bring different regions and communities closer.
Nabin also contrasted the BJP government’s performance with that of Congress-ruled states, alleging that the Congress had failed to fulfil its electoral promises. He recalled Goa’s significance in the BJP’s national political journey and urged MPs, ministers, office-bearers and leaders of various party wings to work in coordination over the next three to four months.
Criticising the Congress over its objections to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls, Nabin said the exercise was part of the electoral process to identify eligible voters. He accused the Opposition of questioning constitutional institutions and alleged that its objections were politically motivated.
Nabin also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi over the controversy surrounding a Kunbi shawl presented to him during the Goy Rakhon Yatra, accusing him of disrespecting Goan culture. He said political leaders should understand the significance of traditional symbols and cultural attire, and referred to a similar incident involving Gandhi in Assam.
The BJP leadership has called for coordinated organisational efforts and stronger booth-level outreach as the party prepares for the 2027 Goa Assembly elections.
