Mangaluru, Oct 27: Keerthan Gowda Kodapala, vice president of the NSUI Dakshina Kannada District Committee, has condemned the alleged derogatory and objectionable remarks made by actor Dhanveer against Karnataka chief minister D K Shivakumar and minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. He has urged the concerned authorities to conduct a thorough investigation into the matter and initiate appropriate legal action if any violation of the law is established.
In a democratic system, every individual has the right to express their opinions. Criticism of the government, differences in political ideologies, and public discussions are natural and essential aspects of democracy. However, freedom of expression should not be misused as a justification for personal attacks or objectionable language. Restraint, responsibility, and mutual respect are essential when speaking about individuals holding public office, Keerthan Gowda Kodapala stated.

Chief minister D K Shivakumar holds a key responsibility in the administration of the state, while minister Zameer Ahmed Khan serves as a member of the Karnataka government. Anyone has the right to question or criticize their policies and performance, but such criticism should be issue-based and expressed in a respectful manner. Healthy debate strengthens democracy, whereas personal insults and statements that lower the standards of public discourse do not send a positive message to society, he said.
Artists and public figures, particularly those from the film industry, have a significant influence on society, especially among young people. Thousands of people follow and look up to them. Therefore, public figures must understand the impact of their words and exercise responsibility while speaking on public platforms or social media. They should promote harmony, mutual respect, and constructive dialogue in society, he added.
Regarding this matter, Keerthan Gowda Kodapala urged the concerned authorities to examine the accuracy, context, and background of the alleged statements made by actor Dhanveer. If any violation of the law is established, appropriate legal action should be taken without political pressure or bias. Everyone is equal before the law, and individuals in public life must understand their responsibilities and conduct themselves accordingly, he emphasized.
“Political differences are an integral part of democracy, but they should never become an excuse for personal attacks. Everyone must uphold social responsibility and respect for the law while exercising their freedom of expression,” said Keerthan Gowda Kodapala, vice president of the NSUI Dakshina Kannada District Committee.
