Mangaluru: St Agnes College PE director Vasudha S to represent India in Intl Master Athletics

Mangaluru, May 23: It was a proud moment for the centenarian institution as the staff and students gathered to congratulate its sports director Vasudha S on her victory.

The Physical Education (PE) Director made her mark in the IV National Master Athletes Games as she bagged gold medals in Hammer Throw and Shot Put. She has also scored a silver medal in Discus Throw in the same event. She has now qualified to represent India in the International Master Athletics.

The sports meet was held in Trivandrum, Kerala between 18 to 21 May, 2022.

Vasudha S qualified to participate in the meet upon receiving Gold medal in the Karnataka State Masters Games held in Udupi in the month of March, 2022.

The Principal of St Agnes College Sr Dr M Venissa AC congratulated the PE director during the felicitation programme. "I was short of words when I received the news of Vasudhas victory. It was her hard work and dedication that made it possible to achieve this feat," she said.

Sr Dr M Venissa AC, principal; Sr Carmel Rita AC, administrator; Sr Clara AC, vice-principal jointly felicitated the achiever.

Thanking the institution, Vasudha S addressed the gathering. "I urge all students to believe in themselves. I was able to bag the medals because of the support I received and also, the effort I put in," she said. The PE director highlighted that there's no age bar when it comes to achieving in the field of sports.

The gold medalist has been working in St Agnes College for the past 11 years. During this period, she has trained several students who have gone to represent the state and the country. The administration of the college, principal, staff and students have wished her the best in the upcoming international sports meet which will be held in the upcoming days.
