Moodbidri, Oct 31: A 19-year-old youth was killed after a private bus collided head-on with his two-wheeler at Todaru on the Mangaluru-Karkala National Highway on Friday.
The deceased has been identified as Rifaaz, a resident of Todaru. He was reportedly working at a fruit shop in Moodbidri.
The accident occurred when a private bus named Abhiman was travelling from Mangaluru towards Moodbidri. According to reports, the bus, which was supposed to use the service road, allegedly entered the opposite lane at high speed and in a rash and negligent manner before crashing into Rifaaz's two-wheeler.
Rifaaz sustained critical injuries in the collision. He reportedly died while being shifted to the hospital.
Moodbidri police visited the accident spot and registered a case. Further investigation is under way.
