Dubai, Dec 28: The Ministry of Education has told all public schools holding Grade 12 examinations to start the exams from 10 AM instead of 8.30 AM because of foggy conditions. Exams are going to start from next Monday. The decision applies to public and private schools following the national curriculum as well as adult education centres and home learners.

According to Ayesha Al Merri, Director of Assessment Department at the Ministry, “We expect it to be very foggy in the mornings and it could be dangerous for students to travel at that time.

In March this year, more than 350 cars were involved in a massive pile-up accident and hundreds injured on the Abu Dhabi – Dubai highway near Ghantoot. This was a result of heavy fog.

Meanwhile visibility came down last night, according to a Dubai Meteorological Office duty forecaster and his prediction of thick fog today morning was very true as we can see in these photographs taken from Bur Dubai area at 10.30 AM this morning.

Motorists were warned to take special care on stretches of inland roads such as the Dubai – Al Ain highway where visibility was lower than 200m.
