Over 40 Injured in Train Collision in Bihar

Saharsa, Dec 1: Over 40 persons were injured when a passenger train rammed into another at north Bihar's Saharsa railway station on Saturday December 1 morning, officials said.

The accident occurred when Saharsa-Forbesganj passenger train rammed against the rear of a stationary Saharsa-Katihar passenger train which was about to leave from platform number three around 7 am, during shunting.

The guard's cabin of the Saharsa-Katihar train was badly damaged under the impact and about 40 passengers suffered minor injuries, officials said.

Enraged over the incident, the passengers assaulted the assistant station master Alok Kumar.

The driver of Saharsa-Forbesganj Passenger Basudev has been taken into custody, sources said, adding an inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
