Mangaluru, Jul 18: The road near Kulur bridge in Mangaluru continues to remain in a deplorable condition, becoming a recurring nightmare for commuters. Year after year, especially during the monsoon, the stretch deteriorates further, leading to traffic snarls that extend all the way to Panambur.
Commuters traveling from Panambur to Mangaluru encounter crater-like potholes just before reaching Kulur Bridge. These massive potholes pose a serious threat to motorists and have already caused several accidents and even fatalities on this stretch.

Riding on this road feels like risking one’s life. Despite repeated concerns raised by locals and commuters, the situation remains largely unaddressed. The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), which is responsible for maintaining this stretch, should have taken timely action to repair the road before the onset of the monsoon.
Although workers were seen carrying out patchwork at the site, the effectiveness and durability of these temporary fixes remain questionable.
With no proper repairs or safety measures in place, the potholes have effectively become death traps. Urgent and permanent repairs are needed to ensure commuter safety and prevent further congestion and casualties on this vital route.
