Panaji, Feb 27: An Israeli couple was arrested on Monday evening at the Dabolim airport here shile attempting to carry five live cartridges on board a Goa-Jaipur Kingfisher Airlines flight, police said.
"Ikhat Nidan (22) and her partner Mordechary Iluz (25) were arrested when five 5.56 mm live cartridges were found in their handbag during the x-ray scanning," they said.
Interrogation of the couple was underway and Vasco Port Town police have booked both under Section 3 of the Arms Act following a complaint by Kingfisher's airport manager.
Officials stated that the couple had arrived in Goa on February 23 and were heading towards Jaipur in IT-612 Kingfisher Airlines flight when the cartridges were traced in their handbag.
Investigations have revealed that both had checked in at a hotel at Anjuna in North Goa during their stay here, police added.
