Emergency treatment to be free at MoH hospitals

DUBAI — Dec. 27: From January 15, patients can avail of free emergency treatment at the Ministry of Health hospitals. Such treatment is already being offered free of cost at Department of Health and GAHS hospitals.

Dr Ali Shakar, Under-Secretary at MoH said that this was the first time that the MoH was offering the services. “The MoH will only start charging after a patient is considered stable. Until he is considered serious and is admitted in emergency, nothing will be charged, but as soon as he is declared stable, applicable charges will be levied,” he explained.


Open House at Indian missions

ABU DHABI — Dec. 27: The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate - General of India in Dubai will host ‘Open House’ on Thursday.

The embassy in the capital will host the function at the premises of the Kerala Social Centre from 7pm to 8.30pm. While, the Consulate-General in Dubai will start the event at 5.30pm.

Senior officers of the embassy and the consulate will be available during these hours and any member of Indian community is welcome to join the discussions, raise specific issues or concerns, without seeking prior appointment. Arrangements have also been made for basic legal advice to be available.


Dubai - Death fall girl named

Dubai - Dec. 27: The Indian Consulate has identified the woman who fell to her death while trying to climb down from a Deira balcony on Friday night as Anjum, aged 23. The Indian woman came to Dubai a few months ago and lived with her sister until she found a job as a maid in the apartment from which she fell, officials said.

It remains unclear why the woman was trying to climb down from the balcony using a rope made of clothes. Police have questioned the Paksitani couple who employed the woman, but have declined to comment further.  The Indian consulate said that they have contacted the family, who will be given the body once it is released by police.
