Kanpur, Nov 25: Wipro chief Azim Premji has also been named in the case One of India's leading software companies Wipro has denied giving employees "dating allowances".
An employee's wife has filed a case against what she has described as Wipro's "home-breaking allowance".
The court in Kanpur in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh has summoned Wipro chief, Azim Premji, and other company officials to respond.
Wipro is India's third-biggest software company which employs thousands of people in its offices around India.
"We would like to categorically state we don't have a dating allowance in any form and hence cannot elaborate on this alleged issue. We have no formal intimation on this," a statement issued by the company said.
But Nandlal Jaiswal, the lawyer for the complainant, Tripti Nigam, who lives in Kanpur, alleges that Wipro pays her husband an allowance for dating and this, according to the lawyer, is leading to "moral degradation" in society.
On being asked if he was taking too simplistic a stand by blaming the company for problems between the couple, Mr Jaiswal said: "The company is co-operating by giving the husband a monetary allowance to mix with other women."
Ms Nigam filed a case earlier in the week against her husband, Gaurav Nigam, who is a software engineer with Wipro in Bangalore, under the newly introduced Domestic Violence Act.
Some Wipro employees that the BBC spoke to said that they did not receive any dating allowance.
