MUMBAI, Jul 3: Heavy rains continued to lash Mumbai for the third consecutive day on Monday, leading to water-logging in low-lying areas and affecting road, rail and air traffic in the metropolis.
Water-logging has been reported from several places including Andheri, Khar and Malad subway with the rainfall intensifying since Sunday evening, official sources said.
Traffic has been diverted at places from where water-logging was reported.
Suburban railway traffic was also adversely affected, with Harbour line trains being stranded at several places and trains on the Western line running 10 to 15 minutes behind schedule, they said.
Brihanmumbai Municipal Commissioner Johny Joseph said the BMC authorities were monitoring the situation and has asked the citizens to report any rain-related incidents, including water-logging, to the civic control room, set up for the purpose.
The Weather Bureau has forecast heavy rains for the next couple of days.
