St Kitts, Jun 27:
VVS Laxman, who has been struggling to find his peak form, not only slammed an invaluable century to bail out his team in the third Test against the West Indies but also reach several personal milestones.

Laxman delivered the goods by notching up his 10th Test century to keep India afloat in the Test.

His knock of 100 was his third century against the West Indians and sixth away from home.

The middle-order batsman, who had struck an epoch-making 281 against Australia in Kolkata in 2001 to lead India to victory after being asked to follow-on, completed 1000 Test runs against the Caribbeans during his knock.

When he reached 23, the Hyderabadi became the 10th Indian to score 1000 or more runs against the West Indians.

On the other hand, another consistent hero for India, Anil Kumble achieved a rare feat when he claimed the wicket of Shivnarine Chanderpaul in the hosts' second innings.

After effecting the dismissal of Chanderpaul, Kumble emerged as the second Indian to have picked up 200 wickets on foreign soil.

Kapil Dev (215 wickets) was the first Indian to have claimed more than 200 wickets away from home.
