Georgia beat Portugal in Nations Cup rugby match


Tbilisi (Georgia), Feb 10 (IANS): Hosts Georgia defeated Portugal in the European Nations Cup rugby division A second rounder, winning 25-12.

It was Georgia's second consecutive victory in this tournament. The Georgians, beating the Belgians in Brussels 17-13 Feb 2, now trail the Romanians who have also won two games in succession, reports Xinhua.

Romania and Georgia lead the six-team round-robin tournament which also includes Russia, Belgium, Spain and Portugal.

The South Caucasus country of Georgia has won the European Nations Cup five times and are the defending champions.

The European Nations Cup is the second tier rugby championship in Europe below the Six Nations Championship.

    We must take this cup again, and we should make progress in IRG rating, hope among the best 10 in ranking soon, if our guys will push with the same enthusiasm and loving their country.
