Mopa, Nov 5: Goa's United Kingdom charter tourism season for 2026-27 began on Wednesday with the arrival of the first TUI flight from Manchester, bringing nearly 300 tourists to Manohar International Airport.
Around 20,000 passengers are expected to visit Goa through charter flights from Manchester and London Gatwick during the season.
TUI will operate four direct flights to Goa every week, with two flights each from Manchester and London Gatwick. The second charter flight, arriving from London Gatwick on Thursday, brought another 311 passengers to the state.

Goa Tourism Director Kedar Naik said the four weekly direct flights would provide an important air connectivity link between the UK and Goa. He described the arrival of the first Manchester charter and the subsequent London Gatwick flight as an encouraging start to the season.
Naik said the state looked forward to welcoming more visitors from the UK and offering them memorable experiences.
Goa's popularity among British tourists is attributed to convenient direct air connectivity, a loyal base of repeat visitors, reliable winter sunshine and the widespread use of English among locals. Many UK tourists have been visiting the state for several decades.
TUI officials said bookings for the winter season had increased by six per cent.
Tourism Minister Rohan Khaunte said the arrival of the first TUI charter flight marked a positive beginning to the UK charter season. He said Goa's association with international travel partners such as TUI was important in strengthening the state's accessibility and presence in key overseas markets.
With approximately 20,000 passengers expected through the two UK gateways, the state hopes to attract more British travellers by promoting its heritage, culture, cuisine, hinterland and nature-based tourism experiences.
Passengers arriving from Manchester were welcomed at the airport with flowers and a traditional Goan reception, giving them a warm introduction to the state's hospitality.
