Mumbai, Nov 4: Singer Kanika Kapoor has announced her separation from husband Gautam Hathiramani after four years of marriage.

Sharing the news through an Instagram Story, Kanika said that the couple had decided to go their separate ways after careful consideration. She expressed gratitude for the time they had shared and wished Gautam well for the future, while requesting friends, family and fans to respect their privacy during this period.

Kanika was earlier married to businessman Raj Chandok, with whom she has three children — daughters Aayana and Samara, and son Yuvraaj. She married Raj in 1998, at the age of 18, and moved to London, where she lived for several years while raising their children. The couple separated in 2012, following which Kanika returned to India to pursue her music career.

Kanika had previously revealed that she had known Gautam for nearly 15 years and that they were close friends before their relationship developed into romance. She had also shared that she proposed to him twice, first in 2014 and again in 2020. Gautam eventually proposed to her in August 2021, and the couple married on May 20, 2022, in an intimate yet lavish ceremony in London.

Kanika rose to fame in 2014 with the hit song 'Baby Doll' from the film 'Ragini MMS 2', starring Sunny Leone. Composed by Meet Bros, the track became an instant hit and established her as a popular playback singer.

The same year, she delivered another successful track, 'Lovely', from Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone-starrer 'Happy New Year'. She later collaborated with composers Meet Bros and Dr Zeus on several popular songs, including 'Chittiyaan Kalaiyaan' from 'Roy', 'Desi Look' from 'Ek Paheli Leela', 'Nachan Farrate' from 'All Is Well' and 'Da Da Dasse' from 'Udta Punjab'.
