Udupi, Nov 1: The city police have registered a case against more than 10 individuals on charges of abetting the suicide of Pradeep, a youth who ended his life at the Ajjarkad district hospital. The case was filed based on a complaint lodged by his brother, Dileep Kumar of Perdoor.
The accused have been identified as Shravya Shetty, Prasanna Shetty, Sudheer, Shailesh, Shashank, Krishna, Sujaya, Sanath, two migrant workers from another state, and others. The police investigation is currently underway.

According to the complaint filed by Dileep Kumar, his brother Pradeep had been in a relationship with Shravya Shetty for the past eight years. On the night of October 27, at around 10 pm, while Pradeep was walking to his house in Nairkodu, Shravya's brothers Prasanna Shetty, Sudheer Shetty, Shailesh Shetty, Sanath, Krishna, Sujay and others allegedly intercepted him in three cars and hurled abuses at him.
The group then took Pradeep to Shravya's house, where Prasanna Shetty allegedly thrashed him severely with a cane on his legs and back, leaving welts. The other accused accompanying them also assaulted him with wooden logs, causing injuries.
Upon learning about the incident, Dileep sent his friends to Shravya's house to check on his brother. The assault reportedly stopped after the friends reached the spot and found Pradeep being beaten.
On October 28, Pradeep was admitted to the Ajjarkad district hospital as an inpatient for treatment. He recounted the ordeal to Dileep, detailing the assault and the life threats issued by Shravya and her brothers.
Deeply distressed by the physical assault and threats, Pradeep ended his life at around 5.30 pm on October 30 by wrapping a white tag around his neck inside the hospital washroom. Following this, a case of abetment to suicide was registered against the accused at the Udupi city police station.
