Kaup, Oct 22: A potentially major accident was averted at Muloor on Thursday, October 22, after a bus driver who suddenly fell ill managed to steer the vehicle towards the roadside, preventing a more serious mishap and ensuring the safety of the passengers on board.
The incident occurred when a Vijayalakshmi Express bus travelling from Mangaluru towards Udupi reached Muloor. The driver reportedly suffered a sudden bout of illness, following which the bus veered to the left and went out of control.
Despite his sudden health setback, the driver managed to steer the bus towards the left side of the road in a quick response that helped avert a potentially grave accident.

The bus first crashed into a tree along the highway before continuing forward and finally coming to a halt after hitting a larger tree.
The situation could have been far worse had the bus veered slightly in either direction, as it risked crashing into two electricity poles nearby. Such a collision could have resulted in more serious consequences for those travelling on the bus.
All passengers on board sustained minor injuries in the incident. However, everyone escaped without serious harm.
The driver's presence of mind amid a sudden medical emergency proved crucial in preventing a major tragedy, as the bus eventually came to a stop after hitting the trees along the roadside.
