Media Release

Mangaluru, Oct 14: St Theresa’s School, Bendur, organised a vegetable presentation competition titled ‘Nature on My Plate’ for students of classes I and II on October 7, in the school’s Main Hall. The activity aimed to promote healthy eating habits while fostering creativity, observation and communication skills among the young learners.

The children participated enthusiastically, bringing a wide variety of vegetables, including some rare and lesser-known varieties. They arranged and decorated the vegetables aesthetically on plates and trays, transforming the hall into a colourful display of nature’s bounty. Their creative presentations reflected originality and an appreciation of the rich diversity of vegetables.

The principal, Sr Lourdes BS, visited the exhibition, interacted with the young participants and appreciated their efforts. She encouraged them to learn more about the vegetables they had displayed and understand their nutritional importance. The children of pre-KG, LKG and UKG also visited the exhibition with great interest, making it a meaningful learning experience for the younger students.

Following the exhibition, the students of classes I and II spoke about their chosen vegetables in their respective classrooms. They shared interesting facts about their vegetables, describing their distinctive features, colours, tastes, nutritional values and health benefits. The presentations provided an opportunity for the children to enhance their knowledge, build confidence and develop their public-speaking skills.

The competition blended experiential learning with creativity and communication, helping children recognise the importance of vegetables in maintaining a balanced and healthy diet. The initiative made learning enjoyable and meaningful, encouraging the young learners to develop healthy food habits from an early age.
