Masada, Oct 11: An approximately 60-year-old woman died after being rescued from a house fire in the village of Masada in Israel’s Golan Heights on Sunday, the Israel Fire and Rescue Authority said.

Firefighters arriving at the two-storey house found smoke billowing from the building and received information that a person was trapped inside. The woman was found unconscious and in critical condition.

Firefighters brought her outside and attempted resuscitation until teams from Magen David Adom (MDA), Israel’s emergency medical service, arrived. The medical personnel subsequently pronounced her dead.

Galilee-Golan District Deputy Fire Chief Eli Mor said firefighters had rushed to the scene after receiving a report from a resident about the fire and concerns that someone was trapped inside.

Mor reiterated the importance of installing smoke detectors in homes, saying early warnings could help save lives during fire emergencies.

The Northern District Commander has ordered a special investigation team from the Fire and Rescue Authority to examine the circumstances surrounding the outbreak of the fire.
