Uchila Dasara 2026: Dr G Shankar inaugurates grand illuminations

Udupi, Oct 10: Dr G Shankar, the architect of Uchila Dasara, inaugurated the spectacular decorative lighting arrangements at the Sri Mahalakshmi Temple in Uchila on Saturday, October 10, as part of the fifth edition of Udupi Uchila Dasara 2026, scheduled to be held from October 11 to 21.

The festival, organised under the administration of the Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha, is being held with the support and cooperation of the Karnataka government, the department of Kannada and Culture, devotees and the Mogaveera community.

The attractive illumination arrangements extending from the premises of Sri Mahalakshmi Temple in Uchila through Padubidri to the Kaup seashore have drawn public attention, adding grandeur and festive splendour to the upcoming Dasara celebrations.

Kaup MLA Gurme Suresh Shetty, Udupi MLA Yashpal Suvarna, South Canara Mogaveera Mahajana Sangha president Jaya C Kotian Bellampalli, Udupi-Uchila Dasara Committee president Vinay Karkera, Mohan Bengre, Giridhar Suvarna, Manoj Kanchan, Sharan Kumar Mattu, Satish Kundar Malpe, Sripathi Bhat Uchila, Ratnakar Salian Malpe, Vishwas Amin, Satish Amin Padukere, Dinesh Ermal, Vasudeva Salian and Gundu B Amin were present on the occasion.
