Mangaluru, Oct 10: Yenepoya School of Engineering & Technology (YSET), organised a two-day hands-on workshop on ‘From idea to innovation: Research, publication and patents’ on October 7 and 8. The workshop was designed to encourage students to transform their ideas into research outcomes, publications, patents and innovative solutions. It provided participants with practical exposure to the various stages of converting an initial idea into a structured research work and subsequently exploring avenues for publication and intellectual property protection.
The sessions introduced participants to identifying research problems, developing innovative ideas, structuring research articles, presenting ideas effectively, and understanding the research and publication process. A key highlight of the programme was the active participation of students in presenting and discussing their innovative ideas.




Students presented technology-driven concepts addressing practical challenges in areas such as smart parking, healthcare and fitness, financial management, navigation and student services etc. The interactive format encouraged students to critically examine real-world problems, identify opportunities for innovation and develop potential technology-based solutions.
The programme reflects YSET’s commitment to fostering research culture, innovation, entrepreneurship and practical learning among students. It also aims to motivate students to move beyond conventional academic projects and explore opportunities for research publications, patents, startups and technology-driven solutions.
The workshop was led by Mohammed Raees P C, founder & CEO, REYRA AI – Edutecnicia Pvt Ltd, the resource persons engaged the students through interactive sessions, practical activities, discussions and idea presentations. The workshop was coordinated by Dr Mohammed Sidheeque, associate professor, YSET, with the guidance of Dr Prabhakara B K, head, department of computer science and engineering.
