Mumbai, Oct 9: Shares of Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) surged over 6 per cent on Friday after the IT major reported a 15 per cent increase in net profit for the September quarter and announced an interim dividend of Rs 12 per share.
The stock opened at Rs 2,088.85 on the BSE against its previous close of Rs 2,075.25. It climbed to an intraday high of Rs 2,204, gaining 6.14 per cent. The stock was last trading at Rs 2,187.75, up Rs 112.50 or 5.42 per cent. The company's market capitalisation stood at Rs 7,92,017.45 crore.

TCS reported a net profit of Rs 13,884 crore for the July-September quarter. Revenue from operations rose 11.22 per cent to Rs 73,188 crore, compared with Rs 65,799 crore in the corresponding period last year. The company's revenue in the preceding June quarter stood at Rs 72,275 crore.
Total expenses increased to Rs 55,887 crore during the September quarter, compared with Rs 49,463 crore in the year-ago period and Rs 55,231 crore in the previous quarter.
The company's board has declared a second interim dividend of Rs 12 per equity share of Re 1 each for the financial year 2026-27. The dividend will be paid on October 30 to shareholders whose names appear in the register of members or depository records as beneficial owners as of October 14.
TCS also said it does not expect the recent US action concerning the green card programme to affect its workforce strategy or customer engagements. The company said it had made only a single-digit number of applications under the programme over the past two years and highlighted its focus on local hiring.
