The arrested accused has been identified as Shivaprasad (52), a resident of Aryapu, Puttur. Police said he had allegedly sold the cattle without the necessary permits.

The incident came to light in the early hours of October 5, after Puttur Rural police station sub-inspector Sushma G Bhandary received information that cattle were being illegally transported to Kerala in a pickup vehicle.
