Kudla Hafla 2026 celebrates belly dance with ‘The Golden Caravan’

Mangaluru, Oct 1: Shimmylaine Academy successfully presented the third edition of its annual belly dance showcase, Kudla Hafla 2026 – The Golden Caravan, on September 27 at Prerana Hall, Indian Red Cross, Mangaluru.

Themed ‘The Golden Caravan – A Journey through the Sands, Rhythms & Styles of Belly Dance’, The evening brought together over 25 dancers, ranging from seven to seventy-five years of age, showcasing the diversity and inclusivity of the art form.

The production took audiences through varied belly dance styles including Classical Oriental, Saidi, Mejance, Shaabi, Arabic Pop, Drum Solo and Fusion.

The showcase also featured guest artistes Aishwarya Deshmukh from Pune, Jayesh Joshi from Goa, Nikita Krishnan and Upasana Shenoi from Bengaluru, alongside performers from ShimmyLaine Mangaluru and Manipal batches.

Founded by Sharlaine Sequeira, Shimmylaine began with just four students and has since grown into a thriving dance community. Through its motto, ‘Any Belly Can Dance’, the academy continues to create awareness about belly dance while encouraging confidence, self-expression and inclusivity.

The event was supported by Exotique Professional Ladies Salon, WiZdomEd, Vinith DCosta & Associates, Rahul Advertisers, Out of Order, Coastbridge Property Management, CoreeAum and Herb & Hill, Kadri Ivan Pinto & Fly, Veronica Cardoza, Globe Travels whose contributions helped bring the Golden Caravan to life.

Kudla Hafla 2026 concluded as a celebration of dance, community and the growing belly dance movement in Mangaluru.
