Kundapur, Sep 28: A pillion rider was killed and the bike rider seriously injured after a Maruti Swift car collided head-on with a bike near the depot on the Jannadi main road on September 27.

According to reports, the car was travelling from Koteshwar towards Halady when it collided head-on with the bike coming from the opposite direction.

The pillion rider, Ranga Madivala (42), a resident of Ulloor 74, sustained serious injuries in the accident and died while being shifted to hospital. The bike rider, Rama Madivala (47), also suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a private hospital in Kundapur.

The impact of the collision left the front portion of the car completely mangled, while the bike was also badly damaged. Eyewitnesses said the car dragged the bike for around 100 metres following the collision.

It is said that the accident occurred when the car driver, Bhagavath Raghavendra Mayya, was returning home with his family members.

Kota police visited the spot, conducted an inspection and registered a case.
