Udupi, Sep 24: Anil Prashanth Kundar has submitted a memorandum to the district superintendent of police (SP) seeking assistance following the gruesome murder of his brother, Alwyn Prakash Kundar, a native of Kundapur, in Sharjah.
Recounting the sequence of events, Prashanth Kundar said, "When I called Prakash on July 20, he did not answer. He later sent a message, which was unusual as he never used to text. When I called him again, the calls went unanswered."
"Alwyn Prakash had been working at the Sharjah airport for the past 14 years. Since he could not be reached over the phone, we contacted his company's HR department, who initially told us that Prakash had travelled to India. When we informed them that he had not reached India, they verified his passport details and confirmed he was still in Sharjah. Following this, a missing person complaint was lodged there," he explained.
"During the investigation in Sharjah, a dead body, chopped into nine pieces and stuffed into two bags, was found inside a car on the route to Oman. It was later confirmed to be Prakash's body. Furthermore, the whereabouts of Prakash's wife and son remain unknown," he added.
Speaking on the matter, district SP Hariram Shankar said, "The brother of Alwyn Prakash Kundar approached me seeking help regarding the alleged murder in Sharjah. The district police cannot initiate direct legal action in this case unless a Red Corner Notice or an Interpol notice is issued against the suspected accused."
"However, in an effort to assist the bereaved family, we are making arrangements to coordinate with the embassy in Dubai. We will also attempt to gather more information regarding this case through Interpol," the SP added.
