Bengaluru, Sep 17: Bringing immense relief to millions of citizens across Karnataka who faced endless queues and chaotic server crashes at fair-price shops, the state government has officially extended the deadline for completing ration card e-KYC to October 20, 2026.

Previously, September 30 was locked in as the final date to complete mandatory e-KYC verification for APL and BPL ration cards.

However, severe overcrowding at ration shops and persistent server outages sparked widespread public distress, forcing everyday citizens to abandon their daily livelihoods to stand in endless lines.

With over a crore ration cards still pending verification and the government reportedly exploring options for mobile-based home e-KYC—which would have taken another week—authorities stepped in swiftly to grant a much-needed extension.

Under central government guidelines, ration cardholders must update their e-KYC once every five years. Out of approximately 2.67 crore beneficiaries across the state, failure to complete the process before the revised deadline risks the cancellation of cards.

To wrap up the verification smoothly, citizens are advised to keep original Aadhaar cards for all family members, their ration card number, an Aadhaar-linked mobile number, and LPG gas connection details ready, alongside caste certificates which remain mandatory strictly for SC/ST beneficiaries.

Officials have urged the public to utilise this extended window without panic.
