Mumbai, Sep 4: Bollywood comedy ‘Heyy Babyy’ is set to return with a sequel, with producer Sajid Nadiadwala confirming that ‘Heyy Babyy 2’ is currently in development.

The announcement was made on Thursday, September 3, following a meeting between Australian Premier Chris Minns and Sajid Nadiadwala at the Nadiadadwala Grandson Entertainment office in Mumbai. The sequel will be among three upcoming productions from the banner that will be filmed in Australia.

The development also marks the return of the franchise to Australia, where the original 2007 comedy was filmed. Details about the storyline and cast of the sequel have not yet been revealed.

The three-film collaboration between Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment and Australia is being facilitated through Sydney-based TEMPLE. Nadiadwala said Australia’s locations, professional film industry and support for filmmakers had encouraged the production house to choose the country for its upcoming projects.

Australian Premier Chris Minns welcomed the collaboration, saying the decision by Nadiadwala Grandson Entertainment to shoot three films in Australia was a strong endorsement of the country’s film industry. He also highlighted the production opportunities for local crews, creatives and businesses in New South Wales.

Australian filmmaker Anupam Sharma, who was associated with the original ‘Heyy Babyy’ shoot in Sydney, also welcomed the return of the production house to Australia. He said the upcoming India-Australia co-production treaty could provide significant benefits for filmmakers from both countries.

Released in 2007, the original ‘Heyy Babyy’ starred Akshay Kumar, Riteish Deshmukh, Fardeen Khan and Vidya Balan. The film became one of the popular Bollywood comedies of its time.
