Mangaluru, Aug 31: To commemorate the three-year anniversary of the state government's guarantee scheme 'Gruha Lakshmi', the department of information and public relations illuminated the Dakshina Kannada (DK) deputy commissioner's (DC) office building in pink light on Sunday night.

The government's ambitious scheme, which provides Rs 2,000 per month to the woman head of every family to help them lead an independent and self-reliant life, completed three years of its implementation on Sunday, August 30.

To mark this milestone, a pink lighting arrangement was made at the administrative building, recognising the colour as a symbol of women's pride. So far, more than Rs 76,500 crore has been successfully deposited into the bank accounts of 1.20 crore beneficiaries across the state under the Gruha Lakshmi scheme.
