Bengaluru, Aug 27: The state government has constituted a five-member cabinet sub-committee to examine the challenges faced by students across the state and recommend necessary reforms in the education sector.

The committee was formed following a decision taken during the state cabinet meeting held on August 21, and it has been directed to submit its comprehensive report within a month.

The government has appointed health and family welfare, minority welfare, Haj and Wakf minister U T Khader as the chairman of the sub-committee. Its members include higher education minister Basavaraj Rayareddy, home and IT-BT minister Priyank Kharge, medical education and skill development minister Sharan Prakash Patil, and school education minister Madhu Bangarappa.

The committee will look into several key issues, including ensuring transparency in examination and recruitment processes, curbing question paper leaks and other irregularities, and formulating a fixed timetable for exams and recruitments.

Additionally, the committee will recommend measures to regulate fees in private educational institutions, monitor private coaching centres, and reduce the overall financial burden of education on students and their families.

The panel will also study ways to improve basic infrastructure and the quality of education in government schools, PU colleges, and universities. Furthermore, it will address the shortage of teachers and focus on the development of essential facilities such as laboratories, libraries, and student hostels.
