Mangaluru, Aug 25: Five persons, including three travelling in a car and two in a mini goods tempo, sustained serious injuries after the car crashed into the fruit-laden vehicle and overturned on the national highway near Kolnadu on Tuesday, August 25.
The injured have been identified as Sampath Shetty (69), Mamata Shetty, Sumitra (28), tempo driver Basheer (42) and Asif (23).
The car was travelling from Bengaluru towards Udupi when, on reaching Kolnadu, driver reportedly lost control. The car skidded, crashed into the mini goods tempo and overturned.

The force of the collision sent the car into a roadside drain. The upper portion of the tempo was ripped off and landed on the highway divider.
Local residents rescued the injured, who were trapped inside the car, and shifted them to hospital in an ambulance.
The accident disrupted highway traffic for some time. The car was later removed from the spot using a crane.
