BJP unveils new national team under Nitin Nabin

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi

New Delhi, Aug 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party has announced a major organisational reshuffle under national president Nitin Nabin, bringing experienced leaders and prominent political figures into its new central team as the party prepares for the next electoral cycle.

The revamped organisation includes 13 national vice presidents, eight national general secretaries, 16 morcha presidents and several other office-bearers. The new line-up marks a significant step in Nabin's functioning as BJP national president and provides him with a fresh organisational structure at the national level.

Former Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje and senior leader Ram Madhav have been appointed national vice presidents, while former Union minister Smriti Irani has been appointed a national general secretary.

Nabin has retained Vasundhara Raje, Baijayant Jay Panda, Rekha Verma and Tariq Mansoor as national vice presidents. Several prominent leaders, including Saudan Singh, Saroj Pandey, DK Aruna, M Chuba Ao, Abdulla Kutty, Laxmikant Bajpai and Lata Usendi, have been left out of the new vice-presidential line-up.

The new team also includes Tirath Singh Rawat, Ram Madhav, D Purandeshwari, Varshaben Narendrabhai Doshi, Bharti Pravin Pawar, Manpreet Singh Badal, Lal Singh Arya, M Nagaraja and Madhuchandra Kar as national vice presidents.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the newly appointed national office-bearers and expressed confidence that they would strengthen the party and focus on public service.

“I am confident they will give their best in strengthening our Party and focusing on public service. My best wishes to them,” Modi said.

The BJP has appointed eight national general secretaries — Vinod Tawde, Sunil Bansal, Biplab Kumar Deb, Smriti Irani, Satish Poonia, Gajendra Patel, Harish Dwivedi and Sanjay Bhatia.

BL Santhosh will continue as national general secretary (organisation), while Shivprakash and Saudan Singh have been appointed national joint general secretaries (organisation).

The party has also announced its new team of national secretaries, including K Kavita Patidar, K Surendran, Bhola Singh, Pradip Varma, Phangnon Konyak, Anil Antony, Sandeep Pathak and Manoj Tigga, among others.

Piyush Goyal has been appointed national treasurer, while Tarun Chugh will serve as the central office in-charge.

The reshuffle also brings a major change to the BJP's digital and communication structure. Amit Malviya has been removed as the party's IT Cell chief, with Deepak Mhaskey from Chhattisgarh set to replace him. Anil Baluni will continue as media in-charge.

The change in IT Cell leadership is among the closely watched appointments in the new team, given the importance of digital communication and social media in the BJP's political outreach.

The organisational overhaul assumes significance as Nitin Nabin, 46, became the BJP's youngest-ever national president earlier this year. The formation of his national team gives him an organisational structure through which he can implement his priorities as party chief.

The new line-up combines experienced political leaders and organisational functionaries with relatively younger faces. The inclusion of women leaders and representatives from different states also gives the team broad national representation.

The timing of the reshuffle is significant from an electoral perspective, with several major states, including Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh and Goa, scheduled to go to the polls in 2027.

The new national team will therefore be tasked with strengthening coordination between the BJP's central organisation and state units as the party prepares for the next major electoral cycle.

The organisational changes also come against the backdrop of political developments and protests over the NEET controversy, which have put pressure on the BJP-led government. The new appointments are therefore being viewed as more than a routine internal exercise, with the party positioning its national organisation to address political challenges ahead.
