Indian Independence Day celebrated with patriotic spirit

Media Release

Jerusalem, Aug 17: A group of Indians living in Israel celebrated India’s 80th Independence Day on August 15 with immense patriotic spirit, pride and emotion. The celebration was organized by Mebal Aranha and friends.

The celebration became particularly special as it was held near the Tomb of Mary, one of Jerusalem’s significant holy sites. After participating in the Holy Mass, the group gathered to honour the nation by proudly hoisting the Indian Tricolour and singing the National Anthem, Jana Gana Mana.

Around 20 Indians took part in the celebration, holding the Tricolour and coming together in a beautiful expression of unity, faith and love for their motherland. Singing India’s National Anthem in the historic and sacred surroundings of Jerusalem turned the occasion into an unforgettable and deeply emotional experience for everyone present.

Adding another proud moment to the celebration, the group also participated in a patriotic celebration/competition organised by SJCPM, Karnataka, where they were honoured with Second Prize along with a cash award of Rs 10,000.

For Indians living thousands of kilometres away from their homeland, celebrating Independence Day together in Jerusalem was not merely an event—it was a heartfelt tribute to the nation and its spirit of unity. The sight of the Indian tricolour fluttering in the historic city of Jerusalem, accompanied by the strains of Jana Gana Mana, created a truly memorable moment.

The celebration beautifully reflected a timeless sentiment: distance may separate Indians from their homeland, but it can never diminish their love, pride and respect for India.

The participants expressed their heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to organising the celebration and making the occasion a proud, meaningful and cherished memory for the Indian community in Jerusalem.
