Mangaluru, Aug 16: The Kindergarten section of Mount Carmel Central School, Maryhill, celebrated the 80th Independence Day on August 14 with great enthusiasm, patriotic pride and joyful energy. The celebration was graced by chief guest, Anita Crasta, a valued member of MCCS office staff, and Administrator, Sr Carissima.

The programme began with a warm welcome and a simple, meaningful reflection on the significance of Independence Day, followed by an invocation seeking the presence and blessings of the Almighty. The chief guest was warmly welcomed by the children, setting a joyful tone for the celebration.

The nursery children filled the air with patriotic cheer as they presented a delightful medley of patriotic songs.

The LKG children brought the stage alive with an energetic patriotic dance, adding colour, rhythm and youthful exuberance to the celebration.

The UKG children beautifully dressed in the traditional attire of different states of India, then took everyone across India. Each little ambassador proudly introduced their state and shared interesting glimpses of its culture and traditions. Their colourful presentation was a charming celebration of India’s unity in diversity.

The winners of the Independence Day competitions were felicitated by the chief guest with certificates, while participation certificates were presented to all the children who took part in the various competitions. The gesture celebrated not just achievement, but also effort, courage and joyful participation.

Through her simple and heartfelt words, the chief guest Anitha Crasta helped the little ones understand the meaning of freedom, the importance of loving their country and the pride of being Indians. Her warm interaction with the children added a special touch to the occasion.

Adding charm and confidence to the proceedings, the programme was beautifully compered by the young MCs - Leon, Ruhi, Jiana, Michelle, Jithan, Yartharv, Shrika and Eva.

The celebration then moved beyond the stage and into a spirited tricolour parade. Proudly carrying colourful tricolour fans that fluttered in the gentle breeze, the children marched with great joy, raising patriotic slogans such as ‘Vande Mataram, Jai Hind etc.’ The sight of tiny hands waving the tricolour transformed the parade into a vibrant expression of love for the nation.

More than a celebration, it was a beautiful moment of learning, expression and belonging. The confidence, enthusiasm and wholehearted participation of our little patriots made the Independence Day celebration truly memorable, a joyful reminder that the spirit of a great nation can begin with its smallest citizens.
