Sullia/Kadaba, Aug 10: Two separate road accidents involving lorries were reported in Sullia and Kadaba over the weekend. Fortunately, the drivers in both incidents escaped without any major injuries.

In the first incident that occurred on Saturday night, a lorry transporting cashew nuts from Mangaluru to Mysuru overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle at a curve on the national highway near Sampaje Chowki in Sullia taluk.

The mishap led to the suspension of vehicular traffic on the route for a few hours. Local residents quickly intervened, arranged for a crane to lift the overturned lorry, and successfully cleared the road for smooth traffic movement. The driver of the lorry escaped with minor injuries.

In the second incident reported on Sunday, a lorry carrying cement bricks from Melkar to Subrahmanya veered out of the driver's control and fell into a roadside drain in Mardhala under the Kadaba taluk limits. The driver narrowly escaped unhurt in the accident. Following the mishap, the cement bricks were unloaded and transferred to another lorry to be dispatched to their destination. The fallen vehicle was later retrieved from the drain using a crane.
