Kasargod, Aug 6: A major tragedy was averted after a snake crawled onto an auto-rickshaw driver's arm while he was driving in Chevar on Wednesday, August 5. The driver immediately stopped the vehicle and managed to escape unharmed. The snake was later safely rescued and released into the forest.

The incident occurred when Piyus D'Souza, an auto-rickshaw driver operating in Paivalike Chevar, was ferrying two passengers to Subbayyakatte on Wednesday morning. While driving, D'Souza felt something crawling on his arm. When he looked down, he was shocked to see a snake wrapping itself around his hand.

Reacting swiftly, he shook his hand vigorously to drop the snake to the floorboard. D'Souza and the passengers immediately stepped out of the vehicle to safety. The snake then slithered into a gap near the handle of the auto-rickshaw.

Ubaid, a local snake rescuer from Chevar, was called to the spot. He safely captured the snake and released it into a nearby forest. According to the snake rescuer, the reptile was mildly venomous.
