Udupi, Aug 5: A joint enforcement drive by the Udupi Regional Transport Office (RTO) and traffic police has resulted in cases being registered against 23 buses for violating road safety guidelines.
The special inspection was carried out to verify whether buses were complying with the guidelines issued during the recent District Road Safety Committee meeting chaired by the deputy commissioner.
During the operation conducted by the Udupi Traffic police station in Udupi city on Monday, 15 cases were registered. Earlier, during a similar drive conducted by the Kundapur Traffic police station on July 27, eight cases were booked.

A total fine of Rs 11,500 was collected during the enforcement drive. Superintendent of police Hariram Shankar said that such inspections will continue in the coming days.
