Mangaluru: Fugitive accused held on arrival from abroad

Mangaluru, Aug 5: Police have arrested an accused who had been absconding abroad in connection with a case registered at Kankanady Town police station in 2019.

The arrested accused has been identified as Ashok Narayan (63), a resident of Andheri West, Mumbai.

A case had been registered against him at Kankanady Town police station in 2019. Since the day the case was filed, he had remained absconding, evaded arrest, failed to appear before the court, and had changed his address to avoid being traced. A chargesheet had also been filed against him for absconding.

During the course of the investigation, police learnt that the accused had gone abroad. After obtaining his passport details, a Look Out Circular (LOC) was issued through the office of the police commissioner.

On August 1, when the accused arrived in India from abroad, he was arrested at Mumbai Airport. On August 2, Kankanady Town police station personnel, ASI Jagadish and staff member Ravikumar, took him into custody and produced him before the court.
