Mangaluru: PTA annual general meeting held at St Agnes PU College

Mangaluru, Aug 1: The annual general meeting of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of St Agnes Pre-University College was held on Friday, July 31 at the college auditorium.

The programme commenced with an uplifting prayer song, followed by a welcome address by Avitha D’Souza, dean for humanities & lecturer in history and psychology. She also introduced the distinguished chief guest, Dr Caroline D’Souza, consultant neuropsychiatrist.

The PTA secretary, Joel Fernandes, presented the minutes of the annual general meeting for 2025–2026. The PTA president, Sr Norine D'Souza AC, presented the annual report highlighting the activities and achievements of the institution during the previous academic year. The statement of accounts for 2025–2026 was presented by the treasurer, Shobha.

The II PU board examination toppers of 2025–2026 were felicitated for their stellar academic performance. Riah Anna Mendona from the science stream, Viola Risha Fernandes from the commerce stream and Pratiksha N Rao from the arts stream were commended for their distinctive attainments. The subject teachers of the toppers were also honoured in recognition of their dedicated efforts in mentoring and moulding the students.

Dr Caroline D'Souza addressed the gathering on the topic, 'Parenting Adolescents in the Digital Age'. Dr Caroline elucidated the role of parents in promoting the mental and emotional well-being of adolescents and emphasised the importance of effective communication and guidance in raising responsible and resilient young adults in this challenging age of technology and digital distractions.

The vote of thanks was proposed by the PTA joint secretary, Lavina Sequeira. The proceedings were skillfully guided by Supriya, dean for science & lecturer in physics. The programme concluded with the National Anthem.

The occasion was graced by the chairperson Dr Sr Vinora AC, vice principal Sr Janet Sequiera, Shabnam, vice president of the PTA, faculty, members of the PTA and parents who attended the meeting in large numbers.
