Mangaluru, Jun 30: Demonstrating its commitment to community health and preventive healthcare initiatives, the Srinivas University Institute of Physiotherapy, in association with the Primary Health Centre (PHC), Jeppu, actively participated in and supported the Pulse Polio Immunization Campaign conducted at the Srinivas University City Campus, Pandeshwar, on Sunday, June 28.
The campaign was organized as part of the government of India's nationwide Pulse Polio Programme aimed at achieving and sustaining complete eradication of poliomyelitis by ensuring universal immunization of children below five years of age. The initiative sought to create awareness among parents and caregivers regarding the importance of timely immunization in protecting children from the lifelong disability caused by poliovirus.


Healthcare professionals from the Primary Health Centre, Jeppu, successfully administered oral polio vaccines to eligible children while ensuring systematic registration, beneficiary guidance, and smooth execution of the immunization process. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from parents and children, reflecting the community's growing awareness of the importance of preventive healthcare and immunization.
Faculty members from the Institute of Physiotherapy, Dr R Kamalakannan PT and Dr Aishwarya Sonwane PT, actively assisted the healthcare team throughout the campaign. They facilitated beneficiary registration, guided parents and children to the vaccination counters, coordinated participant flow, and educated families on the significance of completing the recommended immunization schedule. Their dedicated involvement contributed significantly to the efficient organization and successful implementation of the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, the organizing team emphasized that immunization remains one of the most effective public health interventions for preventing communicable diseases and safeguarding future generations. The Pulse Polio Campaign continues to play a vital role in maintaining India's polio-free status through sustained surveillance and universal vaccination efforts.
