Bantwal, Jun 29: A couple had a miraculous escape after a tree fell on an electric pole, bringing both crashing down onto their moving car near Padibagilu in Vittal on Monday morning.
The incident occurred when the Swift car was travelling from Kuddupadavu towards Vittal. Fortunately, the husband and wife travelling in the vehicle escaped unhurt, though the car was damaged in the mishap.
The incident caused a temporary disruption on the highway, bringing vehicular movement to a standstill for some time.
Later, police personnel, Mescom staff, and local residents worked together to clear the fallen tree and the electric pole from the road, after which normal traffic flow was restored.
