BJP chief Nitin Nabin confident of party’s rise in Telangana

Hyderabad, Jun 28: BJP national president Nitin Nabin on Sunday expressed confidence that the Bharatiya Janata Party would soon emerge as a major political force in Telangana, urging party workers to intensify their efforts to bring the party to power in the state.

Addressing party leaders and workers during the inauguration of the BJP's Ranga Reddy Rural district office and the virtual launch of party offices in nine other districts at Shamshabad, Nabin called on the cadre to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level and work with the goal of ensuring the "lotus blooms" in Telangana.

Drawing inspiration from the party's recent electoral success in West Bengal, the BJP chief urged workers to replicate that commitment and determination in Telangana.

He praised BJP National General Secretary and the party's in-charge for West Bengal, Odisha and Telangana for his role in the party's victory in West Bengal and encouraged him to put in even greater efforts to expand the BJP's presence in Telangana.

Nabin alleged that governments which had ruled Telangana for years had treated power as a means for personal gain. He asserted that BJP workers were prepared to launch public movements against the present government and pledged to continue the party's political struggle in the state.

Referring to the BJP's organisational efforts in West Bengal, he said the party's workers had endured hardships and made sacrifices before eventually achieving electoral success, adding that similar dedication would help the BJP achieve its objectives in Telangana.

He further claimed that the BJP was responsible for weakening the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) government, though the Congress ultimately benefited politically from the situation.

Accusing the Congress of compromising national interests, Nabin said BJP workers possessed the strength and determination to remove what he described as the "corrupt and anarchic" Congress government from power in Telangana.

Calling for an expansion of the party's grassroots network, he urged workers to take the BJP's ideology, policies and programmes to every village, street, locality and town across the state.

He maintained that the Narendra Modi-led Central government was implementing numerous welfare schemes benefiting the people of Telangana, but argued that the state's development would accelerate only under a "double-engine" government with the BJP in power both at the Centre and in the state.

Highlighting Telangana's historical association with the BJP, Nabin recalled that when the party had only two Members of Parliament nationwide in 1984, one of them represented the Telangana region.

He said this demonstrated that the BJP's roots in Telangana dated back several decades and rejected claims that the party was an outsider in the state.

Nabin also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership, saying people across the country were witnessing a model of good governance under his administration.

He said BJP workers function with the guiding principle of "Nation First, Party Next, Self Last" and reaffirmed the party's commitment to achieving the vision of a "Viksit Bharat" by 2047.

Expressing confidence in the party's future, Nabin said the BJP's national development agenda could be fully realised only if the party succeeded in forming the government in Telangana.

Earlier in the day, Nabin was accorded a grand welcome on his arrival at Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport for a two-day visit to the state. He was received by Telangana BJP president N. Ramchander Rao, Union ministers G. Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay Kumar, along with Members of Parliament, legislators and other senior party leaders.

Later, the BJP chief addressed the Vijay Sankalp Sammelan of booth presidents at the Nampally Exhibition Grounds, where he reiterated the party's focus on strengthening its organisational base ahead of future elections.
