Belfast, Jun 27: Ireland created history by defeating India by 34 runs in the first T20 International of the two-match series in Belfast on Friday, registering their first-ever victory over India in any format of the game.

Chasing a target of 183 runs, India were bowled out for 148 runs with six balls remaining. The Indian batting line-up struggled to build momentum as Ireland’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings.

Earlier, Ireland, after being asked to bat first, posted 182 for 9 in their allotted 20 overs. Matthew Humphreys was the star performer with the ball, claiming three wickets for 28 runs and earning the Player of the Match award.

The victory marked a memorable achievement for Ireland, who had been searching for their first win against India across formats.

The second and final T20 International of the series will be played on Sunday.
