Beltangady: Boy injured in scooter fire incident succumbs to burns

Beltangady, Jun 25: A seven-year-old boy who sustained severe burn injuries in a scooter fire incident at Minandelu in Belalu village on June 12 succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday despite undergoing treatment.

The deceased has been identified as Diyan (7), son of retired ex-serviceman Mohan Gowda Kadanda of Belalu. He was a student of a private English-medium school in Ujire.

The incident occurred when Mohan Gowda was travelling with his son on a scooter. Due to a technical fault in the vehicle, the scooter suddenly caught fire on the road, causing severe burn injuries to the boy.

Diyan was admitted to a private hospital in Mangaluru for treatment. However, he failed to respond to treatment and passed away on Wednesday.

Mohan Gowda Kadanda also sustained injuries in the incident and has since recovered.

The deceased boy is survived by his father, mother, and sister.
