Bengaluru, Jun 25: Bengaluru’s Kempegowda International Airport (KIA) has been ranked the world’s third most family-friendly airport for 2026, according to a global study that assessed leading airports on facilities and services designed to make travel easier and more enjoyable for families.

The ranking was released by AttractionTickets.com, one of the United Kingdom’s leading travel experience providers. The study placed KIA among the world’s best airports for families travelling with children and identified it as one of only two Indian airports to feature in the global top 10. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad, secured the fourth position.

The rankings were topped by Helsinki-Vantaa Airport, followed by Singapore Changi Airport, while Bahrain International Airport occupied the next spot. KIA earned an impressive 18.6 points out of a maximum 20.

According to Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL), which operates KIA, the assessment evaluated airports on factors such as family-friendly facilities, ease of navigation, entertainment options and overall passenger experience.

The airport was recognised for its efforts to create a more inclusive and engaging travel environment through initiatives such as India’s first sensory room for neurodivergent passengers, an inclusive art programme and a range of amenities tailored for families travelling with children.

Explaining the methodology behind the rankings, AttractionTickets.com said its experts began with a seed list of more than 140 popular airports worldwide to compile the Happiest Airports Ranking. Data was collected across nine key parameters: Google review ratings, dedicated children’s play areas, family security lanes, baby-changing facilities, stroller or pram hire, sleep pods and rest zones, quality Wi-Fi for streaming, airport size and support for neurodivergent families.

“Each location was then given a total score out of 20, based on performance across all nine data points. These scores formed the basis of the final ranking, revealing which destinations are most likely to ease pre-holiday stress while also being well-reviewed and top-of-mind for those planning an overseas holiday. This data was collated and analysed in May 2026,” the company said.

The latest recognition underscores KIA’s growing reputation as a passenger-centric aviation hub and highlights its continued focus on accessibility, inclusivity and family-friendly travel experiences.
