Moodbidri: Jharkhand woman reported missing, police launch search

Moodbidri, Jun 24: A 48-year-old woman from Jharkhand has been reported missing from a house near Kakkekadu, close to Daregudde, on June 9. Family members have lodged a complaint at the Moodbidri Police Station.

The missing woman has been identified as Karmela Soren (48). She had been working for the past two years at a residence located in Kakkekadu between Anegudde and Daregudde. According to the complaint, she left the house at around 12.30 pm on June 9 without informing anyone.

A review of the house's CCTV footage revealed that the woman was seen walking away from the premises. She reportedly proceeded along the Daregudde road and is confirmed to have boarded a private bus at around 2.30 pm.

According to information provided by the bus conductor, she got down at the Moodbidri bus stand at around 2.45 pm. The conductor also stated that when asked for a ticket, she did not respond properly and appeared to be mentally disturbed.

It is learnt that the woman's mobile phone was switched off later in the afternoon. The last tower location of the phone was traced to the vicinity of Panchratna Hotel in Moodbidri.

Eyewitnesses said that at the time of her disappearance, she was wearing a pink nightgown and was carrying a water bottle and a packet of chips in her hand.

Despite extensive searches at the Moodbidri bus stand, Mijar, the Sampige Church Road market area, and other locations, no trace of the woman has been found so far. Police are continuing their efforts to locate her.
