Mangaluru, Jun 22: St Agnes School CBSE, Bendore, celebrated International Yoga Day on June 20 with great enthusiasm and a spirit of harmony under the theme ‘Yoga for Harmony and Well Being’ in the school hall. The programme aimed to create awareness among students about the importance of yoga in maintaining physical fitness, mental peace, and emotional balance.

The celebration commenced with a solemn prayer service, invoking God’s blessings upon the gathering. A graceful welcome dance added colour and vibrancy to the occasion. The programme was compered by Sianna Ashel Veigas and Chrisel Shanel D’Sa, who conducted the proceedings with poise and confidence. Reemal Clare Mendonca warmly welcomed the dignitaries and the gathering. A floral welcome was accorded to the chief guest, Amita Shetty, as a mark of respect and gratitude.

The programme was graced by Amita Shetty, a renowned yoga practitioner, trainer, and lifelong student of holistic health. With 17 years of experience in the healthcare insurance sector in Dubai, she understands the challenges of demanding professional lives and their impact on physical and mental well-being. After relocating to Mangaluru in 2014, her journey with yoga evolved from a personal practice into a formal pursuit of knowledge. She holds a diploma in yoga and a master’s degree in yoga from Mangalore University and is also a certified counsellor with training in English language studies and Bharatanatyam. Through the yoga classes she conducts in Kadri, Mangaluru, she helps professionals and young adults cultivate sustainable strength, clarity, and balance, promoting yoga as a way of life.

Satvi S K highlighted the significance of International Yoga Day, emphasizing how yoga, an ancient Indian tradition, has grown into a global movement promoting healthy living and inner harmony. The audience was then treated to an impressive yoga demonstration, where students skillfully performed various asanas and breathing exercises, showcasing remarkable discipline, flexibility, and concentration.

Adding a creative touch to the programme, students presented a meaningful skit depicting the importance of adopting yoga and healthy lifestyle practices in today’s fast paced world.

In her inspiring address, the chief guest encouraged everyone to embrace yoga as an integral part of daily life and highlighted its role in achieving holistic health and well being.

The programme concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Aadya S, who expressed gratitude to the chief guest, the principal, teachers, students, and all those who contributed to the success of the celebration. The event concluded with the singing of the school anthem, filling the hearts of all present with pride and gratitude.

The celebration served as a reminder that yoga is not merely a form of physical exercise but a way of life that nurtures harmony between the body, mind, and soul.
