Mumbai, Jun 17: Actor Mimoh Chakraborty has responded to criticism over the use of artificial intelligence and visual effects in Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, saying the film did not depend entirely on AI and that viewers are entitled to their opinions.
The horror film, directed by Vikram Bhatt, has sparked debate on social media since its release, with some viewers praising its horror elements and commercial performance, while others have pointed to visual glitches and alleged overuse of AI-generated imagery.

Addressing the controversy, Mimoh clarified that artificial intelligence was only one of several tools used during the filmmaking process. He said many sequences were specifically created for the 3D viewing experience and involved a combination of technologies and visual effects techniques.
According to the actor, AI was used selectively in scenes where the filmmakers were unable to achieve the desired effect through conventional methods.
Mimoh acknowledged that the technical aspects of filmmaking were best explained by director Vikram Bhatt, but stressed that the creative team had worked extensively to build the film’s visual world and atmosphere.
He noted that every film attracts different reactions from audiences, with some viewers focusing on technical details while others connect more with the story, performances, or overall cinematic experience.
The actor said he was encouraged by the audience response the film has received despite facing stiff competition at the box office and lacking the support of major star power.
Describing the film's performance as rewarding, Mimoh said the project had faced several challenges before release, making its positive reception especially meaningful for the team.
Reflecting on his career, the actor said setbacks and struggles are part of every performer's journey. He added that success comes from persevering and continuing to embrace new opportunities.
Mimoh, who made his Bollywood debut with Jimmy in 2008 and gained recognition through the original Haunted 3D in 2011, said he prefers to focus on the support received by the film rather than the criticism surrounding it.
Despite the online trolling, he maintained that the team's efforts have been validated by the audience response and the film's encouraging box-office performance.
