Iran accuses Israel of repeated Lebanon truce violations, warns of response

Daijiworld Media Network – Tehran

Tehran, Jun 17: Iran has accused Israel of violating the Lebanon ceasefire understanding 84 times since a memorandum of understanding was reached between Tehran and the United States, warning that continued attacks could trigger a "harsh response."

The accusation comes after Israeli military operations in southern Lebanon reportedly left four people dead, further heightening tensions in the region.

Iranian officials said the repeated incidents represented breaches of the truce framework and cautioned that any further escalation could undermine efforts to maintain stability along the Israel-Lebanon border.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump reportedly criticised Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over developments in Lebanon, saying he needed to be "more responsible" in handling the situation.

Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that any future agreement between Tehran and Washington must include the release of frozen Iranian assets, relief from economic sanctions and the complete withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory.

Separately, tensions in the occupied West Bank escalated after Israeli Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich claimed to have cancelled the 1997 Hebron Agreement.

The move could significantly reduce the authority of the Palestinian municipality over construction and administrative matters in Hebron, the largest city in the occupied West Bank.

The developments come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts and regional concerns over the possibility of a wider escalation involving Israel, Lebanon, Iran and Palestinian territories.
