Greater Noida, Jun 14: In a symbolic gesture marking the operational launch of the Noida International Airport at Jewar, farmers who surrendered thousands of acres of land for the project will be among the passengers on the airport’s inaugural flight scheduled for Monday.

The first flight from the newly developed airport is set to depart at 8 a.m. for Lucknow, marking a historic moment not only for the state’s aviation sector but also for the local communities whose land made the project possible.

Jewar MLA Dhirendra Singh said the occasion would be unique as the very farmers who contributed their land for the airport’s construction would now travel on its maiden flight.

In a video message, Singh described the event as a landmark moment for the region and credited the vision of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for turning the aspirations of local residents into reality.

He said the farmers willingly parted with their land to support the state's development and that Monday's flight would serve as a tribute to their contribution.

According to the MLA, the passenger list includes not only landowners who gave up their property for the airport but also women beneficiaries and families who were displaced during the construction process.

“Tomorrow’s flight will reflect the hopes and dreams of the people of Uttar Pradesh,” Singh said, adding that the initiative demonstrates how major infrastructure projects can directly involve and benefit local communities.

The inaugural flight is expected to land in Lucknow, where the Chief Minister is scheduled to interact with the participating farmers and acknowledge their role in the development of the airport.

The Noida International Airport was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on March 28. During the inauguration ceremony, the Prime Minister described the airport as a major milestone in Uttar Pradesh’s development journey and a key component of the vision for a “Viksit Uttar Pradesh”.

He had said that the airport would create new opportunities for employment, trade and connectivity while helping fulfil the aspirations of ordinary citizens by making air travel more accessible.

The launch of commercial operations from Jewar is being viewed as a significant boost to the state’s infrastructure network and a major step toward transforming western Uttar Pradesh into a key logistics and aviation hub.
